CONSTITUTIONAL SPEECH Contest

Who is this for?

All High School aged students interested in learning and speaking about the US Constitution while developing leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly, and competing.

Boys & Girls State

Who should apply?

High School Juniors interested in Law, Politics, Law Enforcement, Government or just being an informed citizen.  Download and complete the application below.

What is it?

A week long experience on the Florida State University campus and the state of Florida's Capitol Complex paid for by the American Legion.  Download the Boys State application at the bottom of this page.  

Participants eligible for scholarships

Samsung endowed a scholarship fund meant to show appreciation for U.S. veterans who came to Korea's aid during its struggle against communist forces in the Korean War.  Participants in Boys and Girls State may apply.  More information can be found at https://www.legion.org/boysnation/about and https://www.legion-aux.org/ala-girls-state

Youth Law cadet Week

Is for Florida high school students of good moral character that possess a desire to learn more about law enforcement as a profession.  Students will spend a week in June at the Florida Highway Patrol Academy in Havana, Florida.

Legacy Scholarships

Is this scholarship for you?

If your parent is a post-9/11 veteran who died on active duty, or has a combined VA disability rating of 50 percent or greater, online application window open November 15 - April 15.

How the Legion can help

Awards may be used for Undergraduate and Graduate studies and recipients may reapply for additional annual awards up to six times.

Eagle Scout of the Year

Open to all Florida resident High School students who have earned the Eagle award, religious emblem and are the son or grandson of a Legion member (OR have a parent that is eligible to join the American Legion).

Captain James Ahn Memorial Scholarship

Captain James Ahn died in 2015 during a parachute training operation while participating with his Special Forces unit in Washington State.   In James’ honor, an annual scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to a Special Forces Veteran working towards the completion of a higher education degree.  

Requirements

  • Former Special Forces Service Member 
  • Full time student pursuing degree/certification completion at an accredited post secondary institution including graduate school, university, college, community college, or vocational/technical institution. 
  • Deadline is June 1.
